About TORCH Missions
For more than 30 years, TORCH Missions has been bringing people together to serve communities in need while sharing the love of Jesus through both words and actions.
TORCH Missions coordinates and facilitates short-term mission opportunities for youth, college students, adults, families, churches, and other groups. Over the years, TORCH teams have served throughout Honduras, Costa Rica, Haiti, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and the United States, responding to poverty, natural disasters, inadequate housing, food insecurity, and limited access to medical care.
Our Mission
The heart of TORCH Missions comes from the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:40:
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
In the verses surrounding this passage, Jesus speaks about feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, clothing those in need, caring for the sick, and serving others. That is the heart of TORCH.
Our mission is simple: serve people in need, build meaningful relationships, and share the hope of Jesus Christ.
We believe the Gospel is shared not only through what we say, but also through how we live and serve. Whether building a home, distributing food, caring for a patient, teaching a child, or simply spending time with a family, every act of service is an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ.
More Than 30 Years of Service
For more than three decades, TORCH has helped lead thousands of volunteers in providing some of life's most basic necessities—food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and hope.
In a typical year, TORCH teams build nearly 100 homes while also repairing and improving many others. Over the years, teams have helped construct schools, churches, classrooms, feeding centers, and other facilities that strengthen communities and create opportunities for lasting change.
Teams distribute food, clothing, shoes, school supplies, Bibles, and other essential resources to families facing difficult circumstances. Volunteers also spend countless hours visiting hospitals, children's homes, schools, churches, and remote communities.
Through medical and dental mission efforts, TORCH teams help bring care directly to people who may otherwise have little or no access to treatment. Clinics can serve hundreds of patients in a single day, providing compassionate care while reminding each person that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Serving the Next Generation
Many TORCH teams also organize Vacation Bible School programs, children's activities, community outreach, and discipleship opportunities. Through these ministries, thousands of children and families have heard the stories of Scripture and experienced the love of Christ in tangible ways.
The days can be long. The work can be exhausting. But the impact is unmistakable.
TORCH mission trips are designed not only to serve communities but also to transform the people who come to serve. Participants are challenged to step outside their comfort zones, build relationships across cultures, recognize the needs of others, deepen their faith, and discover what it means to live a life of service.
For many volunteers, a TORCH trip becomes much more than a short-term mission experience—it changes the way they see the world, their faith, and their responsibility to serve others.
Benevolence. Discipleship. Relationships.
TORCH Missions exists to create opportunities for people to put their faith into action.
We believe meaningful missions are built on relationships rather than projects alone. A house provides shelter. Food meets an immediate need. Medical care can restore health. But relationships allow us to walk alongside individuals, families, churches, and communities and demonstrate that they are not forgotten.
Through every project and every interaction, our desire is to serve with dignity, compassion, humility, and the love of Jesus.
TORCH Missions coordinates and facilitates short-term mission opportunities with an emphasis on benevolence, discipleship, and Christ-centered service. InterAmerican Restoration Corporation (IRC), a nonprofit charitable organization, administers TORCH Missions under the oversight of its Board of Directors.
For more than 30 years, the mission has remained the same:
Serve those in need. Build relationships. Share Jesus. Change lives—including our own.
