I came to Honduras in 2010 along with my husband, Butch, and a small group from my congregation, Maysville Church of Christ. We joined up with Terry Reeves' LARGE group. I was terrified at first and so out of my comfort zone. But it took one day to fall in love with the people there. I met a very special little boy in Mololoa, named Jefferson, and have not been the same since ! I also met the preacher at Mololoa, Noel, he and his family have become such special friends to us. I was also heartbroken by the plight of the mothers there. On our last night, I was so devastated to have to leave those kids, and just a mess. At our devo ,Terry said he hoped that the trip was more than a "Bucket List" to just one person. And he hoped that someone would be changed enough to step up and lead a group someday. That just hit me right in the heart. I am so thankful to Michael and Beth Rosenblum for convincing us to come on that first trip. And to Tom Beach for mentoring me. The relationships I have with the people there fill a place in my heart I didnt know needed it. I pray the Lord allows Butch and I many more years of service in this mission. On a crazy note, I think we are the only team to survive a bird strike and emergency landing. A memory I could do without !
